Fifty-three student-athletes and 27 officials will depart the US for the 2009 World University Winter Games in Harbin, China the week of February 15th.  The college and university athletes comprise teams in men's and women's curling, men's ice hockey, men's and women's figure skating, and women's synchronized skating.  Opening ceremonies for the Games are February 18th and the Closing ceremonies on March 1st.  During the interim, the USA teams will be vying for gold, silver, or bronze medals.

Harbin, a city of 9.75 million people, is a major industrial city in China.  It is famous for its unique ice and snow sculptures and ranks among the world's four major ice and snow festivals.  The Winter Games will attract some 2,500 athletes from 45 countries.  Harbin is a true winter destination with temperatures hovering near zero or below.

The USA team will be staying in the Athlete's Village on the campus of Heilongjiang University in Harbin city.  The village is almost a self-contained city with cafes, sports and fitness center, tv lounge, an internet cafe, and medical center.  More than 3,000 volunteers will aid the delegations in moving to and from the venues to the village.

Results, pictures, and videos will be posted on this site as the competition commences.  Lets all cheer, "GO USA!!!"
